Soldiers under the command of Operation HADIN KAI have taken two individuals into custody on suspicion of assisting the Islamic State West Africa Province, known as ISWAP. Security analyst Zagazola Makama announced the news via a statement on social media.
The detention occurred on Sunday, August 9, at roughly 10:30 am. Military personnel conducted a routine vehicle inspection on the Mandaragirau-Sabon Gari Road in Borno State, leading to the apprehension of 20-year-old Adamu Abdullahi and 18-year-old Buba Ibrahim. Officers seized 131,300 Naira from the pair during the search.
While the detainees identified themselves as herders, authorities suspect them of facilitating terrorist operations and participating in cattle theft. Both individuals are now held in military detention while officials conduct a thorough investigation. This operation is part of a broader push by Operation HADIN KAI and Operation DESERT SANITY V to dismantle networks that provide logistical and intelligence support to insurgents throughout the region.
