Authorities in Yobe State have detained two individuals linked to a residential burglary at the Red Bricks Housing Estate in the capital city of Damaturu. Police spokesperson SP Dungus Abdulkarim confirmed that officers from the B Division made the arrests on August 7 after a victim reported the crime.
Following an investigation, officers identified and apprehended 27-year-old Abubakar Abdullahi and 23-year-old Ayuba, both of whom live in Damaturu. During questioning, the duo admitted to the break-in. Officers successfully retrieved several stolen goods, including a 50-inch Samsung Smart TV, a large carpet, and three sets of bedsheets. The owner has since verified these items, which are now held as evidence.
The suspects currently remain in police custody as officers work to uncover if others participated in the theft. The Yobe State Police Command is encouraging local citizens to stay alert and promptly inform security forces of any suspicious activity to help ensure neighborhood safety.
