Anambra Billionaire Joseph Okafor Reported Kidnapped

Jezco Oil founder Sir Joseph Eze Okafor has reportedly been kidnapped in Anambra State, prompting his home community to postpone their annual New Yam Festival.

Sir Joseph Eze Okafor, the Nigerian businessman who founded Jezco Oil and the Jezco Group, has reportedly been abducted in Anambra State. Okafor is well-known as the father of social media figure Jowizaza. Legal practitioner Chukwudi Iwuchukwu reported the incident on Sunday, stating that the businessman was taken last week while praying alone on a mountain in Awka. According to reports, Okafor chose to attend the prayer session without his usual security detail. Unidentified gunmen allegedly seized him during his devotions and transported him to an undisclosed location.

The news has caused distress and mourning within his home community of Ekwulobia. As the wealthiest individual from the area, his influence is substantial. The community took the unprecedented step of delaying its annual New Yam Festival, a celebration that has historically never been deferred. Residents stated that holding the festival would be insensitive while one of their most prominent citizens remains missing.
