Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, a former political aide to President Bola Tinubu, has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is experiencing significant anxiety regarding the 2027 general elections. He argues that the ruling party is troubled by the possibility of being voted out if the electoral process remains transparent.
Baba-Ahmed addressed claims from a social media user who described Nigeria’s opposition as uninspired. The user expressed frustration with the current political climate, noting a personal sense of detachment from ongoing political developments. In his response, Baba-Ahmed defended the opposition, asserting that they are currently facing an unprecedented level of pressure and suppression from the ruling party.
Despite possessing vast financial resources and holding the vast majority of elected offices, the APC remains uneasy, according to Baba-Ahmed. He contends that this persistent insecurity stems from the party’s underlying fear of facing a fair, credible contest at the ballot box.
