Minister of Works Dave Umahi has condemned Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential nominee, claiming that the former Anambra State governor is targeting his personal integrity. During the inauguration of the Akwanga-Jos superhighway project, Umahi expressed frustration over Obi’s recent social media posts highlighting deteriorating road infrastructure.
Umahi labeled these actions as theatrical, questioning when governance descended into comedy. He defended the current administration’s use of reinforced concrete technology, describing it as a progressive move. The Minister asserted his readiness to engage in a formal debate with Obi regarding the realities of public administration.
Furthermore, Umahi emphasized that governing is a collective obligation rather than the sole burden of the President. He maintained that he accepts full accountability for operations within the Ministry of Works and praised President Bola Tinubu for his leadership approach. The Minister noted that infrastructure maintenance requires public cooperation, noting that damaged roads are often the result of improper vehicle usage and lack of citizen responsibility.
