Callum Simpson successfully reclaimed the British and Commonwealth super-middleweight championships by defeating Troy Williamson via unanimous decision in Leeds. This victory served as personal redemption for the 29-year-old, who previously suffered the only defeat of his professional career to Williamson last December.
The ringside officials scored the competitive bout 116-112, 117-112, and 115-113, awarding the win to Simpson. Working under the guidance of his new trainer, Rob McCracken, Simpson dominated early segments of the fight, notably staggering his opponent with a heavy right hand in the third round. While the 34-year-old Williamson managed to rally in the eighth and final rounds, he could not overcome the point deficit.
Post-fight, Simpson disclosed that he had fought through perforated eardrums during their previous encounter, which hindered his performance at the time. With his record now standing at 19-1, promoter Ben Shalom indicated that Simpson is once again positioned for potential world-title opportunities within the coming year.
