Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State officially opened the 3.3-kilometre Adesan Road in Mowe, Obafemi-Owode, on Friday. During the event, he confirmed the capture of four additional suspects involved in the recent abduction of seven Gateway ICT Polytechnic students.
This development follows the rescue of the seven students, who were safely recovered on Thursday, a process that also saw the initial arrest of two gang members. The Governor praised the collaborative efforts of the Nigeria Police, DSS, Army, NSCDC, Amotekun Corps, and local vigilante groups in securing the students’ release.
Addressing the crowd, Governor Abiodun reiterated his firm stance against criminal activity, promising that Ogun State would remain inhospitable to those who violate the law. He acknowledged the support received from President Bola Tinubu and top national security leaders during the crisis.
Shifting focus to infrastructure, the Governor noted that his administration has completed 42 road projects in the Ogun Central Senatorial District since 2019, including 12 within the Obafemi-Owode area. He highlighted that across the entire state, approximately 1,600 kilometres of roads have been finished as part of his commitment to fulfill campaign promises.
Local officials and traditional leaders, including the Olu of Mowe, Oba Oriyomi Yahaya, lauded the new infrastructure as a vital economic asset that will boost commerce and connectivity for the local community and surrounding districts.
