The Jigawa State Police Command successfully disrupted an armed robbery plot and took two individuals into custody regarding the kidnapping of a toddler in two distinct incidents across the state. SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the police spokesperson, noted that officers on patrol near the Rashid Shekoni Teaching Hospital encountered a suspicious vehicle during the early hours of Thursday. When commanded to stop, the driver fled, initiating a pursuit that concluded in Baranda Bush. The occupants fired upon the police, leading to an exchange of gunfire. While most suspects escaped, one injured individual was apprehended but later died at a medical facility. Authorities seized items including machetes and ropes from the abandoned vehicle.
In a separate case, law enforcement responded to the disappearance of a one-and-a-half-year-old child from the Babura General Hospital pediatric ward. Intelligence led officers to 20-year-old Khadija Aliyu, who was found with the child. Subsequent questioning identified Sadik Sale Yahaya, a hospital nursing officer, as an accomplice. The woman admitted to intending to sell the boy for N2 million in Kaduna State. The child is currently in protective custody awaiting reunion with family members. Commissioner of Police Tijjani Murtala commended the force and encouraged citizens to remain proactive in reporting criminal activities.
