The Accord party in Osun State has expressed significant anxiety regarding a reported scheme to seize vital election supplies prior to the governorship vote on August 15. In a formal announcement released Thursday, state chairman Pastor Victor Babalola Akande indicated that the party obtained reliable information about opposition figures intending to sabotage the vote by hiding or stealing materials.
According to the party, this interference aims to block the distribution of necessary tools to specific polling stations, potentially preventing numerous voters from casting their ballots. The Accord leadership warned that failing to protect these logistics could damage the integrity of the entire election. They have formally requested that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) implement rigorous oversight regarding the transport and storage of all voting documents.
The party further urged law enforcement, including the police, the DSS, and the NSCDC, to investigate these claims immediately rather than reacting after a potential breach occurs. Accord stated it would utilize all legal channels to oppose any form of electoral sabotage. Finally, they called on Osun citizens to stay watchful and report any unusual activities to the authorities to ensure the upcoming election remains fair and undisturbed.
