America’s Russia-Ukraine Envoy Preparing ‘End of War’ Options for President Trump
The U.S. envoy for the Russia-Ukraine conflict has reportedly informed allies that he is preparing potential “end of war” options to present to President Donald Trump.
According to Semafor, Keith Kellogg has been discussing these options in recent meetings with U.S. allies, though he denied reports suggesting he would unveil a proposal at the upcoming Munich Security Conference.
Bloomberg previously reported that the Trump administration was expected to present a plan at the conference, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Speaking aboard Air Force One on Sunday, Trump expressed confidence that progress was being made toward ending the war. He has repeatedly stated his intention to resolve the conflict and meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, though no date or location for such a summit has been confirmed.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin has remained vague about potential discussions with the U.S., stating that it could neither confirm nor deny whether direct talks between the two leaders had taken place.
Asked whether he had had a conversation with Putin since he became president on January 20 or before, Trump said: ‘I’ve had it. Let’s just say I’ve had it…And I expect to have many more conversations. We have to get that war ended.’
‘If we are talking, I don’t want to tell you about the conversations,’ Trump said.
‘There certainly are a lot of sensitive conversations going on,’ U.S. national security advisor Mike Waltz told NBC, suggesting Trump could use sanctions and tariffs to force Russia’s hand.
Last year, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that any potential peace deal would require Ukraine to recognize Russia’s claims over four eastern and southern regions, including areas not under Moscow’s control.
According to a November report from Reuters, Putin is open to discussing a peace agreement with Donald Trump but remains firm on key conditions. He has ruled out making significant territorial concessions and insists that Ukraine must abandon its aspirations to join NATO.
