A tragic accident on the Ijebu Ode-Benin Expressway has left three people dead and three others suffering from injuries. The collision, which took place early Wednesday around 5 a.m., involved an unmarked crane and a Mercedes-Benz truck with license plate LG 59 BLF.
Babatunde Akinbiyi, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), stated that the crane driver was operating at high speed against the flow of traffic when the vehicle struck the oncoming truck. Of the six people involved in the crash, three men and three women, the fatalities included two men and one woman. The three surviving men were transported to Babcock University Hospital in Ilisan Remo for urgent medical care.
Authorities have transferred the bodies of the deceased to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu. TRACE personnel are currently managing traffic flow by diverting vehicles from Delabo Junction to the alternate lane as the site is cleared.
