Deputy Inspector-General of Police Adegoke Fayoade, who oversees the South-West region, has clarified that the Nigeria Police Force has received no information regarding ransom requests concerning the kidnapped students and educators in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. Fayoade spoke on the matter during a formal visit to the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja this Monday.
Regarding reports of potential payments, the Deputy Inspector-General emphasized that law enforcement does not participate in negotiations of this nature. He explained that the priority remains the secure recovery of all hostages. Multiple security organizations are collaborating on the rescue effort with the goal of ensuring the captives return safely as quickly as possible.
Fayoade also noted that his trip to Lagos was designed to assess operational strategies and bolster oversight. He discussed ongoing efforts to manage logistical hurdles and staffing issues while integrating advanced technology and data-driven systems to improve national security responses.
