WAFCON 2026: Nigeria faces Egypt in pivotal Group C showdown

As Group C concludes at the 2026 WAFCON, defending champions Nigeria prepare to play Egypt in a match that carries significant implications for the quarter-final standings.

The concluding Group C matches for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations are set for this Wednesday evening. Nigeria, the title holders, are scheduled to compete against an Egyptian side that has already been knocked out of the competition. Meanwhile, the other fixture features group leaders Malawi facing off against Zambia.

A specific scenario could see three teams tied at six points: should Zambia defeat Malawi while Nigeria simultaneously overcomes Egypt. In that event, CAF will apply head-to-head tiebreaker rules among the Super Falcons, the Copper Queens, and the Scorchers to decide the standings. Only the top two finishers in each group secure a spot in the quarter-finals.

The Nigeria versus Egypt match starts at 9:00 p.m. West African Time at the Stade Olympique de Rabat. Fans can watch the broadcast via official partners including AfroSport, SuperSport, and CAF TV.
