The House of Representatives Ad-Hoc Committee is set to question Adeniyi Adeyemi, the alleged Director-General of the fraudulent Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). Chairman Yusuf Gagdi confirmed that Adeyemi, who faces accusations of forgery, impersonation, and financial misconduct, is currently held by the police under a judicial mandate.
Gagdi emphasized that the legislature will not undermine the judiciary by attempting to override the existing court order keeping Adeyemi in custody. To avoid interfering with parallel investigations by the ICPC and EFCC, the committee will conduct the interrogation at a private, unannounced location. These sessions will include legal counsel and police notification to ensure procedural integrity.
During recent hearings, businessman Gbenga Collins alleged that he paid N400 million to Adeyemi for a renovation contract linked to the fake council. The committee expects to wrap up its hearings this week before submitting a final report to the House.
