The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to shift his focus toward an issue-driven campaign ahead of the August 15 gubernatorial election, rather than blaming President Bola Tinubu and former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for his political struggles. Senator Surajudeen Ajibola Basiru, the APC National Secretary, addressed media in Abuja, dismissing Adeleke’s accusations of state-sanctioned violence and his warnings of 1983-style unrest as desperate rhetoric born from a fear of losing.
Basiru highlighted significant governance gaps, citing poor road conditions and a severe shortage of teachers as proof that the governor is failing to deliver on his responsibilities. He emphasized that local support for APC candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji is gaining momentum, which he believes has triggered Adeleke’s recent outbursts. Furthermore, the Osun APC chapter, led by spokesperson Kola Olabisi, accused the governor of orchestrating political instability.
Olabisi challenged the governor to justify reports of alleged support for political thugs and the granting of questionable amnesty to prisoners. He questioned why a governor claiming to be a successful leader would resort to claims of victimization, noting that the upcoming election serves as a direct measurement of his performance in office.
