Italian side Como has reached a transfer agreement exceeding £30 million to acquire Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah. The 27-year-old is set to join the club on a long-term deal, where he is expected to serve as a key figure under manager Cesc Fabregas.
The financial terms include an initial payment of £25.7 million to Chelsea, with an additional £5.1 million in performance-based bonuses. This agreement follows months of discussions, with Fabregas prioritizing the defender’s acquisition for over half a year. For Chalobah, the move marks his departure from the club he joined nearly two decades ago as a youth player.
This transfer aligns with Chelsea’s objective to streamline their roster under new manager Xabi Alonso. The club recently bolstered their defensive line by signing 26-year-old Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace for £52 million. Currently, Chelsea remains focused on further reducing their depth at center-back, where they still manage nine senior players, including Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana. There is active interest in moving players like Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi to further balance the squad.
