Reports from The Athletic indicate that Raskin is demanding documentation concerning the professional connections between FIFA and the former president. Specifically, the inquiry seeks an itemized list of any valuables, including financial contributions, gifts, awards, or personal appearances provided to Donald Trump, his administration officials, his family, or The Trump Organization.
Scrutiny into this relationship intensified during the 2026 World Cup. During that tournament, Donald Trump reportedly contacted Infantino to pressure him regarding the suspension of American player Folarin Balogun ahead of a match against Belgium. Although FIFA subsequently cleared Balogun to participate, the governing body maintained that the ruling was reached without outside interference.
