Nigerian Army forces have ramped up surveillance activities on the Kano–Zaria Highway as the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) kicked off its yearly religious walk in Kaduna State. Security expert Zagazola Makama confirmed the update, noting that personnel from the 4 Demonstration Battalion initiated monitoring operations at 7:30 a.m. on August 2. Soldiers observed a significant gathering of IMN followers traveling through the Makarfi Local Government Area on their way to Zaria.
Estimates suggest that approximately 1,000 participants were involved in the trek, walking along the side of the road with their bags and belongings. This annual observance is scheduled to run through August 9. To guarantee public safety and keep traffic moving smoothly, security forces have stationed officers along the path to monitor the situation. As of the latest update, the event remained calm, and no security threats have been documented. Authorities continue to keep a close watch on key Kaduna transit routes to ensure the procession remains orderly.
