On Sunday night, a pastor’s son was killed during an armed raid in Kuk village, located within the Gashish District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area in Plateau State. The attackers, believed to be Fulani militants, targeted the home of a clergyman from the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN).
Journalist Masara Kim Usman reported that the assailants, numbering between three and five, breached the residence at approximately 10:30 p.m. using automatic weapons. The victim was struck by gunfire during the home invasion. Local civilian guards arrived quickly to counter the attackers, causing them to retreat before military personnel from a nearby base could reach the site. This intervention prevented further casualties within the household.
Before the violence occurred, Solomon Mwantiri, President of the Berom Youth-Moulders Association, had issued a security warning regarding armed groups moving toward several villages south of Jos. Residents in Riyom and Barkin Ladi LGAs were cautioned to remain vigilant and avoid traveling on isolated paths following reports of gunfire and motorcycle-riding groups in the vicinity.
