Chelsea Secure Transfer of Rayo Vallecano Defender Pep Chavarria

Chelsea have finalized a €25 million deal for Rayo Vallecano’s Pep Chavarria, marking a record sale for the Spanish club.

Chelsea have officially wrapped up the acquisition of left-back Pep Chavarria from Rayo Vallecano, according to reports from Marca. Chavarria earned a reputation as a standout talent in Spain last season, tallying one goal and three assists over 44 appearances.

The London club pursued a new defender following Marc Cucurella’s £51.8 million move to Real Madrid. Chelsea successfully negotiated a deal with Rayo Vallecano valued at €25 million plus performance-based incentives, representing a record-breaking sale for the Spanish side. Although his release clause stood at €50 million, the clubs settled on a lower fee.

Chavarria, 28, opted for the Premier League over interest from Bayer Leverkusen. His tactical profile aligns perfectly with Xabi Alonso’s 3-4-3 system, making him a primary target for the Blues. The player has already arrived in England to finalize a long-term agreement. This addition follows a busy transfer period for Chelsea, which has already seen the arrivals of players like Morgan Rogers, Maxence Lacroix, and Valentin Barco.
