The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has named Prof. Terhemba Shija as its official candidate for the 2027 Benue State governorship race. This announcement resolves previous confusion regarding who would hold the party’s ticket.
Agile Bem, the Benue State Publicity Secretary, released a statement on behalf of State Chairman Ohini Ojegbe confirming the news. Prof. Shija visited the national headquarters alongside party leaders, including Mr. Ojegbe and Prof. Isaac Onyike, to collect his nomination paperwork.
Chairman Ojegbe welcomed the conclusion of the selection process and encouraged other party members to support Shija. He emphasized the importance of unity to secure a victory in the upcoming election. In response, Prof. Shija expressed his gratitude to the national and state committees. He promised to deliver dedicated leadership and invited his former rivals to unite to strengthen the party for the 2027 contest.
The NDC has officially submitted Prof. Shija’s credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, marking the final step in the nomination procedure.
