Professor Chinwe Obaji, a former Minister of Education, has urged the incoming Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Segun Aina, to prioritize the preservation of the institutional advancements made by his predecessor, Professor Is’haq Oloyede. In a discussion with the News Agency of Nigeria, Obaji emphasized that Aina is stepping into a role defined by a decade of rigorous progress in transparency, innovation, and public trust.
Obaji stressed that effective leadership involves reinforcing existing functional systems rather than dismantling them. She encouraged Aina to guide the agency with courage and humility, ensuring that technology remains a tool for justice and equity. According to the former minister, the foundation established by Oloyede is significant and requires careful stewardship to ensure continued national service.
The former minister voiced confidence in Aina’s ability to lead the board, noting his professional competence and character. She expressed hope that his tenure would further enhance meritocracy and efficiency within the Nigerian educational system. Professor Is’haq Oloyede officially stepped down on July 31 after serving two five-year terms. Initially appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016, Oloyede has now formally transferred leadership responsibilities to Professor Aina.
