Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, recently convened with Edo citizens residing in the United Kingdom. During the London forum, he advocated for his administration’s development goals and requested that the diaspora mobilize to secure 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid. The meeting, arranged by Shine Beyond Borders and the London Professional Training Centre, functioned as a platform for the Governor to detail his administration’s progress to Nigerian expatriates.
Okpebholo emphasized that his SHINE Agenda is fostering genuine progress, noting advancements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security. He specifically pointed to the Ramat Park Flyover, the reconstruction of the Ekpoma–Auchi road, and various security measures like the recruitment of 500 Forest Guards and the introduction of new military units as proof of his success. He encouraged those abroad to return home and invest their expertise and capital directly into the state’s future.
Addressing the crowd, the Governor defended President Tinubu’s economic policies, including the fuel subsidy removal, stating that these reforms have empowered states to finance their own infrastructure without needing federal bailouts. He encouraged the audience to judge his leadership by his actual results rather than online rhetoric and asked them to advocate for Edo State abroad. Senator Adams Oshiomhole also joined the Governor at the event, where they distributed campaign materials supporting the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
