Six soldiers dead and 75 people kidnapped during bandit raid in Zamfara

A group of armed bandits attacked Kasuwar Daji in Zamfara State, killing six soldiers and abducting at least 70 residents after looting local businesses.

Suspected bandits killed six soldiers and kidnapped more than 70 residents during a late-night attack on Kasuwar Daji, a community in the Kaura-Namoda local government area of Zamfara State. The assault began around 11:30 pm on Saturday after the attackers overwhelmed a local military outpost.

Witnesses reported that the large group of armed individuals fired weapons indiscriminately before looting various shops for food and supplies. Local resident Alhaji Aminu Kasuwar Daji expressed deep concern regarding the regional insecurity, noting that the ability of bandits to overpower military forces leaves civilians vulnerable. Former deputy speaker Hon. Namadi Kasuwar Daji confirmed the incident, stating that family members informed him of the violence and the abduction of numerous neighbors, although he was out of the state at the time.

State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, was contacted regarding the incident but stated he had no immediate information. He did not provide further updates despite follow-up inquiries.
