The Federal College of Education (Technical) in Gombe has issued a formal warning to the public regarding unauthorized land transactions near its campus. Provost Dr. Mohammed Gazali Abdulhamid stated that any sale, allocation, or development of property within the school’s boundaries is strictly prohibited and carries no legal standing.
Dr. Abdulhamid addressed reports that unauthorized individuals, potentially posing as government officials, were selling land adjacent to the institution. He clarified that claims suggesting parts of the college’s setback along Dukku and Bajoga Roads were available for development are entirely false. The college has not authorized any land transfers, and anyone participating in these schemes does so at their own financial risk.
The Provost emphasized that the institution remains dedicated to protecting its land from encroachment. He also expressed gratitude to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State for his support in mitigating gully erosion and for appointing several college staff members to government roles. Looking ahead, the institution is expanding its academic scope following the Federal Colleges of Education Act of 2023, which allows the school to offer both NCE programs and bachelor’s degrees. Dr. Abdulhamid praised the governor’s broader investments in local education reform and reiterated the college’s commitment to advancing vocational and technical training.
