Shuaibu Idris, a governorship aspirant for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State, has formally requested that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) address the ongoing internal conflict regarding the state’s gubernatorial primary outcome. Idris, who heads Time-Line Consult Limited, warned that prolonged silence from party leadership threatens the organization’s success in the 2027 elections.
Idris asserted that he is the rightful, legally recognized candidate, emphasizing that the party strictly followed its established nomination and screening protocols. He noted that while Isah Ashiru was initially declared the winner with 86,000 votes, Idris challenged the process, labeling it a poorly organized charade. A subsequent appeal committee investigation determined the primary was fundamentally flawed and ultimately named Idris as the legitimate winner based on valid votes cast.
Despite this, the NWC has yet to issue a final formal decision, reportedly awaiting guidance from its legal department. Idris expressed frustration over Ashiru’s continued activities, such as meeting with party executives and selecting a running mate, describing these actions as disrespectful. He remains confident that the NWC will soon affirm his candidacy once they finish reviewing the submitted documentation.
