She is now set to face world number three Jessica Pegula for the title. Eala, who began the season outside the top 50, is poised to achieve a career-high ranking of 24th.
This year, Eala has successfully challenged the sport’s elite, recording six wins against top-10 opponents, including a notable victory over Iga Swiatek at Wimbledon. In Washington, she navigated a difficult draw by overcoming Elina Svitolina and Leylah Fernandez. Pegula, who reached the final after a comeback win against Diana Shnaider, praised Eala as a rising star in professional tennis.
Eala credited her growth to improved physical conditioning and a stronger serving performance. Meanwhile, on the men’s side of the bracket, Taylor Fritz will compete against Rafael Jodar for the championship. Fritz advanced after a three-set win over Brandon Nakashima, while Jodar earned his spot by defeating Alejandro Tabilo.
