Cameron Norrie saw his hopes of winning the Los Cabos Open come to an end during the semi-final round, falling in three sets to the reigning champion, Denis Shapovalov. Despite snapping a six-match losing streak to reach the final four, the British number two could not overcome his Canadian opponent, losing 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.
The match began poorly for the 2021 champion, who lost his opening service game. Although he fought hard, he was unable to recover the break, dropping the first set. Norrie faced another early deficit in the second set before rallying to force a decider by securing a break at 6-5. However, Shapovalov seized momentum immediately in the third set by breaking Norrie in the first game. The Canadian maintained his advantage on serve for the remainder of the match, clinching the victory in two hours and 39 minutes.
Shapovalov advances to face Arthur Gea in the championship match, following the Frenchman’s straight-sets victory over Coleman Wong.
