On Friday morning, two police officers lost their lives in a collision while stationed along Ali Akilu Road in the Kawo district of Kaduna State. The incident took place at approximately 7:00 a.m. near the General Hassan Katsina U-turn, frequently referred to as the Water U-turn.
Reports indicate that a vehicle operated by a military member struck the officers while they were performing their official duties. The collision was severe enough to result in immediate fatalities. DSP Mansir Hassan, spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, verified that the officers were engaged in authorized patrol activities at the time of the crash.
CP Muhammad Rabiu, the State Commissioner of Police, expressed his sympathies to the grieving families. Authorities have confirmed that the driver involved serves in the military. He is presently undergoing medical treatment for his own injuries at a secure, private medical facility in Kaduna.
The police command has pledged to conduct a complete and impartial investigation alongside other security services. Furthermore, they urged drivers in the region to maintain strict adherence to traffic laws.
