Nigeria women’s national team coach Justine Madugu has brushed aside negative feedback regarding his strategy following a recent loss to Malawi. The team suffered an unexpected 3-2 defeat against the tournament newcomers on Tuesday, marking the first time in WAFCON history that the Super Falcons lost to a debuting nation.
Addressing the media on Friday, the 61-year-old manager dismissed claims that his tactical decisions were flawed. He pointed out that his previous record with the team includes several successful matches that went unchallenged. Madugu emphasized that one poor result does not invalidate his coaching philosophy or the team’s ongoing preparations for the WAFCON competition.
Looking forward, Madugu stated that the squad has moved past the disappointment of the Malawi match. He noted that the players are maintaining a positive mindset and remain fully committed to achieving a strong performance in their upcoming fixture against Zambia.
