During a monthly briefing in Abuja, Major-General Michael Onoja, Director of Defence Media Operations, stated that Nigerian troops conducted nationwide security operations throughout July. These efforts resulted in the death of 102 criminals, the arrest of 345 suspects, and the rescue of 393 individuals who had been kidnapped.
The military collaborated with local vigilante groups and other security services to secure these outcomes. This cooperation also prompted 57 insurgents and their family members to surrender, while soldiers successfully recovered 59 firearms and over 1,800 rounds of ammunition.
Operations across the country focused on neutralizing various threats, including militia groups, terrorists, and secessionists. Notably, in Borno State, forces neutralized Abu Salim al-Barnawi, a senior commander and propaganda expert for Boko Haram and ISWAP.
In the North-West, specifically within Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, and Zamfara, Operation Fansan Yamma rescued 191 victims and apprehended 66 suspects. Simultaneously, Operation Delta Safe targeted economic sabotage in the South-South by dismantling 18 illegal refining sites and seizing over 250,000 liters of stolen crude oil. Meanwhile, in the South-East, Operation Udo Ka forces detained 26 individuals and secured the release of 10 civilians.
The Air Force provided essential support for these ground campaigns through targeted strikes that halted hostile plots. Beyond combat operations, the military continues to prioritize civil-military initiatives, such as healthcare interventions and community development programs, to foster stability in affected regions.
