A 15-year-old from Anderson, Indiana, identified as Jo’Majze Larry, has been handed a 100-year prison term for his involvement in a fatal 2025 gang-related shooting. The sentencing took place on Wednesday before Madison County Circuit Court Judge David Happe.
Larry was one of four individuals affiliated with the Mickey Cobra Nation gang charged in the death of 26-year-old Dayla Swain. The incident occurred on February 2, 2025, outside Sonny Ray’s nightclub near Indianapolis. Authorities stated the shooting was a botched attempt to kill a witness connected to a separate 2023 homicide involving 15-year-old Jullian Craig.
During the chaos, two additional women sustained injuries, one from gunfire and the other after being hit by a getaway vehicle. Larry and 19-year-old co-defendant Rashawn Samuels were convicted by a jury in late June, with both pleading guilty to criminal organization enhancements. Judge Happe sentenced Larry to 50 years for the murder plus 50 years for the gang enhancement. Samuels received a 125-year sentence.
A third defendant, 19-year-old Kyree Craver, was sentenced to 90 years for the murder earlier in July, while a fourth person is awaiting trial. Although Larry received a century-long sentence, Indiana law permits him to request a judicial review of his term after 20 years, potentially allowing for a future reconsideration of the penalty.
