Seminarian kidnapped during raid on Catholic Bishop’s home in Benue

A Catholic seminarian named Kelvin Ochai has been abducted by gunmen following an attack on the Bishop’s residence in Benue State’s Otukpo area.

A group of armed individuals suspected of being bandits operating in Benue State kidnapped Kelvin Ochai, a Catholic seminarian. The abduction took place on Wednesday when the assailants targeted the residence of the Bishop located in the Asa III district of Otukpo Local Government Area.

Rev. Fr. Joseph Aboyi Itodo, the Chancellor of the Otukpo Diocese, verified the event through an official announcement on Friday. In the statement, Bishop Michael Ekwoyi Apochi expressed his profound sorrow regarding the situation. The Bishop urged the Catholic community and the general public to offer prayers for the immediate and secure return of the seminarian.

The diocese further requested divine intervention for the release of all individuals currently held by criminal groups across the nation, placing their trust in the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
