Professor Segun Aina, the newly appointed Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has committed to an uncompromising campaign against examination misconduct. During his formal assumption of office at the board’s headquarters in Abuja, Aina issued a strong warning to those involved in credential forgery, impersonation, and other fraudulent activities, stating that such individuals have chosen the wrong organization to target.
Aina intends to protect the credibility of Nigeria’s tertiary admission process by utilizing advanced technology, investigative tools, and administrative reforms. He views each fraudulent admission as a theft of a young Nigerian’s future and pledged to work closely with security agencies to apprehend offenders. The registrar emphasized that his administration will prioritize integrity as its core value.
Beyond curbing fraud, Aina plans to modernize JAMB into a more transparent and user-friendly institution. He expressed his desire to reduce the anxiety experienced by candidates and parents by simplifying services and improving communication. He noted that the board should be a source of professionalism rather than stress for the public.
Reflecting on his career, Aina described his return to the board—where he previously served as a National Youth Service Corps member—as a significant homecoming. He called upon his staff to embrace innovation and professionalism, while inviting educational stakeholders to collaborate in reforming the sector. Aina concluded by stressing that his leadership decisions will be measured by whether they help or hinder the dreams of honest Nigerian students.
