On Thursday evening, armed assailants killed three miners along the GSS Daffo Road within the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State. The individuals were ambushed around 7:15 p.m. as they traveled home from a mining location in the Fubok area of the Daffo District.
The attackers opened fire without warning, resulting in the immediate death of all three men. The victims have been identified as 45-year-old Maren Agom from Tadai Village, who suffered a head wound, and 38-year-old Joe Buba from Josho Village, who was shot in the chest. The third individual, known only as Yellow, has yet to be fully identified.
Local medical staff at the Alheri Medical Centre in Daffo have received the remains. Community member Peter Maju stated that security forces were alerted following the incident. Authorities are currently searching for the perpetrators and have increased their presence in the vicinity to prevent additional violence.
This incident represents the latest in a series of violent attacks across Bokkos and surrounding regions in Plateau State. Despite persistent security measures, these rural communities continue to face regular threats. Attempts to contact DSP Alfred Alabo, the Plateau State Police Command spokesperson, regarding the matter were not successful.
