She finished well clear of Marione Fourie from South Africa, who recorded 12.50 seconds, and Jamaica’s Kerrica Hill, who finished at 12.69 seconds. While her time was the fastest ever at the Commonwealth Games, it will not be officially recognized as a record because the +3.8m/s tailwind exceeded the legal limit of +2.0m/s.
Amusan maintained command throughout the race, earning an automatic place in the final. Securing the gold would be another major achievement in her career as a top-tier sprinter. This performance bolsters Team Nigeria’s track and field efforts as the Glasgow Games reach their final phase.
