A Federal High Court in Abuja has lowered the bail amount for the National President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Alhaji Bello Bodejo, from N2 billion to N1 billion. Bodejo is currently facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for his alleged involvement in laundering $2.63 million.
Previously, Justice Inyang Ekwo set the original bail conditions on July 20, which included two sureties for N2 billion each and strict requirements regarding tax clearance and property ownership. On Wednesday, vacation judge Justice Salim Ibrahim approved a request to modify these conditions.
Under the new terms, the bail is set at N1 billion, requiring two sureties. At least one of these individuals must possess real estate valued at N1 billion located in Asokoro, Guzape, or Maitama. Furthermore, the sureties are required to submit official identification documents, such as a passport, NIN, or driver’s license. Following this adjustment, the proceedings will return to Justice Ekwo for the ongoing trial. Bodejo has entered a plea of not guilty to the six-count charge filed against him on July 9.
