The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced its decision to stop trusting the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding the management of votes for the 2027 general election. The party remains firm in its commitment to securing every ballot cast for its candidates.
Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary for the ADC, stated this in Ilorin on Wednesday. He spoke to the press during an awareness walk aimed at informing Kwara State residents about the party’s upcoming election strategies. Abdullahi clarified that while the party recognizes the presence of honest staff within the electoral body, it has decided that relying on the commission is insufficient.
According to Abdullahi, the outcome of the 2023 elections was disappointing despite the trust the party previously placed in INEC. He emphasized that the ADC will now focus on actively safeguarding its votes nationwide. He further expressed the party’s belief that President Bola Tinubu will be defeated in 2027 because the ADC is prepared to defend its electoral interests by any necessary means.
