The Lagos State Government has stepped in to assist 28-year-old Tosin, a widow who claimed she was intimidated and faced attempts to seize her late husband’s assets just over a week after his passing. This move occurred after activist Harrison Gwamnishu posted a video on X showing the woman’s father-in-law locking her out of her own home.
Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, head of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), stated that police have taken the accused individual into custody. The investigation remains active. Gwamnishu reported that the victim’s husband passed away on July 20, 2026, leading his relatives to occupy the property at No. 8 Jumofak, Igbo Oluwo Estate in Ikorodu. He alleged that family members demanded the widow pack her belongings into a single room and had already begun dividing the deceased’s assets, including plans to sell his vehicle.
The DSVA confirmed it reached out to the victim, who alleged threats, physical abuse, and intimidation. The agency is currently coordinating with the Owutu Police Division to ensure the legal process is followed. State officials emphasized their dedication to protecting the widow and her two children, encouraging the public to report similar instances of abuse via established channels.
