The Federal Ministry of Finance has formally refuted a deceptive message currently targeting recent job recruits. This fraudulent notice claims that new hires must pay a non-refundable N50,000 administrative fee to begin their employment.
Efe Ovuakporie, the Head of Information and Public Relations, issued a statement on Wednesday characterizing the message as a malicious scheme intended to defraud applicants. The phony document, disguised as an official communication from the Human Resource Management Department, falsely asserts that payment is a mandatory requirement for onboarding.
The ministry clarified that no such mandate exists and confirmed the communication is entirely unauthorized. All recruitment activities strictly adhere to Federal Civil Service protocols, which explicitly prohibit charging any fees during application, documentation, or starting stages. Potential employees are strongly advised to ignore this request, protect their financial information, and report suspicious activities to law enforcement or the ministry directly. The government remains dedicated to maintaining an transparent hiring process and encourages the public to verify information only through official channels.
