Brentford has confirmed the exit of Jordan Henderson, following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract. The 36-year-old midfielder, who transferred from Ajax last summer, made 34 appearances during the 2025/26 season. Reports indicate he is currently in advanced negotiations to join Chelsea as a free agent.
The club leadership had previously assured Henderson they would not block a potential transfer to a top-tier side. Chelsea management views the veteran as an ideal candidate to bolster manager Xabi Alonso’s squad with his extensive experience.
Reflecting on his departure, Henderson expressed deep appreciation for the opportunities he received at Brentford. He credited the club for facilitating his return to the Premier League and praised the dedication of the coaching staff, owners, and supporters. He emphasized his pride in the team’s achievements during his tenure and described the club as a progressive and special environment.
