Military Officer Murdered in Abuja; Three Detained Following Mob Killing of Plateau Model

A Nigerian Army intelligence officer was killed by gunmen in Abuja, while three suspects were arrested in Plateau State for the fatal mob beating of a 25-year-old model.

Colonel Abdussalam Ude, a member of the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps, was fatally shot by unidentified attackers at his home in Kurudu, Abuja. Reports indicate the gunmen confronted the officer upon his arrival from work on Monday evening. The violence escalated when Colonel Ude resisted attempts to kidnap his family members. Both the officer and his wife were struck by gunfire; his driver and security guard also sustained gunshot wounds during the struggle. Military officials have launched an investigation into the targeted attack against the colonel, who was known for his counter-terrorism expertise and dedicated service.

In a separate incident in Plateau State, authorities have taken three individuals into custody following the death of 25-year-old model Ibrahim Mbaya. Known locally as Ibee, the University of Jos graduate was reportedly beaten to death by a mob after being accused of stealing an iPhone at an off-campus residence in the Ring Road area of Jos. Eyewitness accounts suggest Mbaya was subjected to a brutal, hours-long assault by a group of men who intended to force a confession. By the time emergency medical help was sought, Mbaya had succumbed to his injuries.

Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, Alfred Alabo, confirmed the arrests of Rinji Fwanji, Emmanuel Newyear, and Nensemka Fwanji. The suspects are being held as investigations into the alleged culpable homicide continue. Mbaya’s death has prompted widespread calls for justice from the local entertainment industry and his grieving family.
