All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, recently compared his party’s political dominance in Osun State to a heavy truck confronting a small tricycle. He asserted that no local rival, specifically Gov. Ademola Adeleke’s Accord party, possesses the influence required to counter the APC’s robust coalition of governors, national lawmakers, and local officials preparing for the August 15, 2026 gubernatorial contest.
During the Abuja inauguration of the Osun APC Governorship Campaign Council on Tuesday, Yilwatda emphasized that the body includes a strategic blend of current and former political leaders, federal executives, and business figures. He explained that regional governors from across the country will lead specific senatorial districts, ensuring a comprehensive grassroots mobilization strategy that targets every resident through door-to-door campaigning.
Yilwatda labeled the Osun election as a critical rehearsal for the party’s broader ambitions in the 2027 general elections. Accepting the mandate on behalf of the council, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma pledged that the campaign would prioritize the record of the Tinubu administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda, promising to counter opposition rhetoric with concrete evidence and disciplined engagement.
APC governorship candidate Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, known as AMBO, expressed his appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and the National Working Committee. Highlighting recent successful demonstrations of support across various Osun towns like Osogbo, Ilesa, and Ede, Oyebamiji committed to working closely with the campaign council to secure an electoral victory and advance the state’s prosperity.
