Ahmadu and Umaru, the sons of Alhaji Haruna Sale, the South-East Zonal Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), have been killed. The pair lost their lives during an assault on a cattle camp located in Oheoyya, Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Gidado Siddiki, the group’s National Deputy Director-General, confirmed that the attack took place on the evening of July 25, 2026. In addition to the loss of life, approximately 40 cattle were destroyed during the incident. MACBAN expressed gratitude toward the Enugu State administration and law enforcement for their quick efforts in locating the victims’ bodies within the forest, which allowed the families to hold traditional Islamic funeral services.
The organization has urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice. MACBAN emphasized that its members conduct business legally and remain dedicated to maintaining peace with host communities. They also extended thanks to Governor Peter Mbah, local leaders, and the public for their ongoing cooperation, while reaffirming their desire to foster security and national unity through collaboration with government and community stakeholders.
