The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) successfully apprehended 12 people suspected of operating a fraudulent network connected to QNET/IGNITE. This initiative serves as a component of the government’s strategy to curtail irregular migration and illegal cross-border activities.
DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, the spokesperson for the NIS, confirmed that the operation was prompted by intelligence reports regarding trafficking rings active in Ogun and Lagos states. Among those taken into custody is Ouattra Adama, a citizen of Burkina Faso. The remaining 11 suspects consist of eight individuals from Liberia and three from Cameroon. During the operation, authorities successfully rescued two Liberian citizens who were reportedly victims of the group’s scheme.
Currently, all suspects and the rescued victims have been moved to the NIS national headquarters to assist with ongoing investigations. Officials have advised the public to remain vigilant by verifying all overseas employment, educational, and business opportunities through official government channels to avoid potential exploitation.
