Law enforcement officials in Ogun State successfully apprehended two individuals accused of cattle theft and stopped a kidnapping attempt during two distinct operations. DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the command spokesperson, confirmed these developments in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
Officers from the Sagamu Police Division were alerted on Saturday regarding the theft of seven cows from a local yard. By patrolling likely exit paths, the police stopped a blue Nissan Cabster bus on the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway, finding six of the stolen animals inside. Authorities are currently searching for additional suspects and the missing seventh cow.
In a separate event on Sunday, members of the Safer Highway Patrol intervened during a suspected abduction attempt near Onigaari on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. After patrol officers heard gunfire, they engaged the group, causing the kidnappers to retreat into the woods. The victim was safely rescued and escorted to the Ogunmakin police station.
State Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the officers for their efficient performance. He emphasized the department’s dedication to intelligence-based policing and encouraged citizens to assist in maintaining safety by sharing relevant information with law enforcement.
