The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) recently shut down five hotels located in Ikorodu due to ongoing environmental non-compliance. The agency announced this action on its official social media platform this past Tuesday.
According to the regulatory body, the closure occurred after the targeted businesses ignored multiple warnings and formal notices intended to prompt corrections. The government initiated this crackdown to uphold state environmental standards and protect the well-being of the public.
The affected businesses include Docklands Hotels, Royal Tree Hotel and Suite, Rivera Hotel, Medallion Hotel, and Daval Spring Hotel. These properties are situated across various Ikorodu regions, specifically Ijede Road, Gberigbe Road, Aga, and Owode-Ibeshe.
Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, the General Manager of LASEPA, stated that the agency remains dedicated to health safety through rigorous regulatory oversight. He noted that business owners and residents share a responsibility to follow environmental rules. Ajayi warned that the agency will increase surveillance on those who jeopardize environmental safety and advised all facility operators to follow legal requirements to avoid further punitive actions.
