Rasheedat Ajibade, captain of the Super Falcons, has stated that the squad is determined to protect their position as the premier team on the continent, according to DAILY POST. The team, coached by Justine Madugu, enters the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with high expectations as one of the tournament favorites.
Previously, Nigeria claimed a record 10th championship by defeating Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses 3-2 in a dramatic final. Now, the team aims to retain their crown and secure a place in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
Regarding their preparation, Ajibade noted that morale is excellent. Speaking at a press conference in Rabat, she confirmed that the players remain fully concentrated and prepared to handle the competition step by step. The Super Falcons launch their title defense against Malawi’s Scorchers this Tuesday evening at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat.
