The Northampton Saints will begin the 2026-27 Premiership rugby season at home against the Newcastle Red Bulls on Friday, September 25. Having secured their third league title this past June, the Saints return to action following their victory over Exeter. Meanwhile, the Exeter Chiefs will host Gloucester at Sandy Park on the following Saturday. The opening round features several other matchups, including Harlequins versus Bath, Sale taking on Bristol, and a Sunday clash between Leicester and Saracens.
The season concludes with the final scheduled for June 19, 2027, at Allianz Stadium. The schedule includes significant pauses to accommodate international tournaments like the Nations Championship and the Six Nations. Furthermore, the league has officially abandoned the concepts of promotion and relegation, shifting toward a franchise-based structure following a February vote.
Several clubs will host matches at larger venues, such as Harlequins’ annual Big Game events at Allianz Stadium. Simon Massie-Taylor, the CEO of Premiership Rugby, noted that the league is seeing increased momentum, with plans to expand the competition by the 2029-30 season.
