Elderly man detained for supplying ammunition to Zamfara bandits

Authorities in Zamfara State have apprehended an elderly man suspected of transporting ammunition to armed bandits hiding in the Bagega Forest.

Security personnel have taken an older man into custody on suspicion of smuggling ammunition intended for armed groups within the Bagega Forest in Zamfara State’s Anka Local Government Area.

The individual was caught on the Anka–Bagega road after authorities received specific intelligence and conducted a standard patrol. Sources speaking to Zagazola Makama confirmed the man was trying to enter Bagega town carrying munitions meant for outlaws using the forest as a hideout.

This operation marks a major step in breaking the logistical chains of local criminal organizations. The suspect is currently detained and providing investigators with details that could help identify other participants in the trafficking ring.

Security forces are actively working to map out the extent of the smuggling network and neutralize illegal weapon transfers. Statewide, agencies in Zamfara have ramped up their presence to crush bandit syndicates and secure communities across the North-West region.
